Should I be worried?

I went in for my annual checkup and std check and the Dr told me I have hsv-1 and hsv-2. I knew I had hsv-1 already. My results were

HSV-1 IGM screen:             Negative
HSV-2 IGM screen:             Positive
HSV IGM Titer:                     1:20   ( reference range <1:20)

HSV-1 IGG type specific AB:    3.77H
HSV-2 IGG type specific AB:    0.03

Index:
1.10             Positive

Ive had unprotected oral sex from 2 different girls in the last month. Last being a little over a week before my blood exam.  I always used condoms during sexual intercourse.  Ive had zero symptoms that point to genital herpes.  He told me to follow up in 3 months for another hsv and HIV test. My igm was just at the positive border and I've read its not all that accurate. Should I worry?  Should I avoid sexual contact until I retest?

about half of folks will test accurately at that point. still far too early to do your testing and feel confident in results. we recommend waiting a full 3 months for a reason!!

Just wanted to follow up. I retested at 5 weeks for hiv and hsv igg at labcorp. I'm still waiting for the results from the 4th gen hiv but my hsv results came back yesterday.  I tested positive for hsv-1(which I expected) and my hsv-2 is still negative.  I ordered it from tstd.org and they advised me that after 28 days their tests are very reliable.  I couldn't find anything on the labquest site but  on the quest site is states:

These assays are highly sensitive (91%–100%) and specific (93%–100%) for HSV-1 and HSV-2 infection, even in the absence of symptoms. Thus, a negative result suggests absence of infection. Because antibodies may take several weeks to reach detectable levels after primary infection, negative results should be confirmed by repeat testing 4 to 6 weeks later in cases of suspected early infection.

It's been over 5 weeks and still no genital symptoms.  Given that I only kissed and received unprotected oral from these two girls.  It was one time with one and 2 times with another girl.    Always using condoms for vaginal intercourse(I know it only offers some protection). A  Tstd.org rep told me I should consider myself negative.  I know these are good signs and I'm still going to follow up with the 12 week test for the peace of mind.

What do you think?  Is this conclusive like quest site and tstd rep state?  Have you seen many people in similar situations turn positive after 5 weeks?

really no reason to think these are hsv2 oral symptoms.

The day I originally posted this I had an outbreak form on my lip. It was really small and went away in a couple of days. Yesterday I looked in my mouth because i felt something with my toungue  and it was a white spot with many other small pinhead spots across my upper gums.  I have no pain or discomfort.  Today I can't even feel the spot anymore and it's gotten smaller.  Do you think this could be from the herpes?   I read up on Herpetic Gingivostomatitis but it says its for primary outbreaks only.  I'm hsv-1 + and my igm titer for hsv-2 tested positive last week. Could this be because of hsv-2 or am I over thinking this?  Still no symptoms below the belt.  I have an appointment with my dentist next week.

oral sex is not a real way to contract hiv. your provider doesn't need to repeat that testing either.

Thanks guys. I came home kind of worried because he said to retake the HIV test even though i tested negative.  I always used a condom.  He kinda freaked me out but the more I read the more I'm convinced he is misinformed. Plus I was at the beginning of a small outbreak on my lip when I took the blood test. I wonder if that had any effect. Thanks again Grace!

hsv1 genitally is the risk of herpes from receiving oral sex. since you already have it, not likely you would contract hsv1 genitally later on.

really no reason for more testing since you've had no symptoms.

From what I know, the IGM results are usually wrong, IGG is what counts. From the rests you posted, I believe you are negative for HSV2
