Should I get tested again?

I've only been with one partner my whole life and I've had my blood tested annually for STDs.  I was always told that my herpes tests came back negative, until today.  I had another herpes test done in January 2009 and that came back completely negative.  My doctor said that a previous test (I didn't think to ask for the date) came back with "equivocal" results, which isn't necessarily a positive or negative but they always told me my results were negative anyway.

I have no signs of herpes at all and neither does my boyfriend, I just ask to get tested for everything just to be safe.  My lab results say I'm negative for HSV1 and 1.26 for HSV2, which equals a positive.  I asked if this could be a mistake and my doctor never gave a direct answer and didn't offer to do another test.  Is it likely that I was misdiagnosed?  Thanks.

your hsv2 igg is a low positive and needs further confirmatory testing done. first get your bf tested to see what his status is. if he's hsv2 negative then odds are you did have a false positive and really not even any reason for testing to prove it. if your bf comes back as hsv2+ then definitely pursue further testing like a herpes WB or a herpes biokit hsv2 igg.  Only about 20% of all hsv2 igg's in that range are actually positive so this is worthwhile to follow up on.
