pain. I was tested for Herpes. My IgG was 2.61 for HSV-2 and the IgM was a 1.66. I have not had any other complications. I want to know if I get re-tested could my results change. Is this a low or high positive?
Yes, He has been tested and said, "he does not have it." It have been six months since my last encounter. My concern is that I will have a doctor that does not know much about this topic. Should I go to a primary
care or internal medicine doctor?! Does ir even matter? When I go to get re-tested should I explain the situation to this doctor or just request the Western Blot test?
I'd request the western blot test. You could take the herpeselect over and over and keep having the same low positive. If it was me, I'd be asking for the western blot. Seems like quite a few people who went the extra length got it and confirmed that they were in fact, negative. No sense going through life thinking that you have something that you don't have.
You can call Biokit for the nearest provider to you that offers it (781-861-4064). You get your results back in 20 minutes. Western Blot is a bit more accurate, but takes roughly 3-4 weeks.
To order a Western Blot, you can get it through Quest. It's test #34534.
Your provider can also call and order it up themselves through the University of Washington. http://depts.washington.edu/rspvirus/herpes.htm is the link to pass onto your provider.
The Doctor told me that I was suspicious for herpes, took the culture. A few days later I was told that I was positive for herpes. I went to another doctor, told me that she didn't see anything...it looked like I had a tear. After that she drew my blood. I was confirmed again that I have herpes with the numbers I provided (IgG HSV 1 4.34, IgG HSV 2 2.61, and IgM 1.66).
