True or false. In primary herpes infection, the blister or sore wiill be at the same location of the infection. Ie...the penis  or the vagina. When would they not?

"Where you are infected has little bearing on where ob's and shedding will take place.  The nerve ganglia that supplies the genital area is where the virus settles and shedding takes place from the entire anogenital area periodically -that includes the anal area too , even if you don't have anal sex."

"If you have hsv1 on your butt, then you have hsv1 genitally. It infects the entire anogenital area regardless of where your ob's are located in the "boxer short" area as we refer to it as."

Your primary ob tends to be near the location of actual infection however most folks are not noticing the initial symptoms or are attributing them to other causes . Recurrences for many folks occur in the same general area but for a decent % of folks, they occur in various spots . You can expect to have ob's anywhere in the entire boxer short area though overtime - doesn't mean that you will.  However the location of symptoms is meaningless in the big picture since shedding occurs from the entire anogenital area with recurrences and periodically in between. Hope that helps bring together the info that petal posted so it is even more helpful :)
