Sore throat during primary infection

I think I'm having an atypical primary genital herpes infection. I have really severe symptoms but no sores, so the doctors can't figure out what it is. I'm pretty sure it's herpes though. I tested positive for hsv 1 two weeks after I was exposed. I'd had a herpes blister on my lip before though, which makes this all even more confusing.

Anyway, I've been sick for two months now. My throat swells up at least once everyday. Is this normal for ghsv?

none of your symptoms sound herpes related regardless of their location.

Thank you Grace!! :)

Sorry, but just to be sure, do you mean the throat issues don't sound like genital herpes, the tingling, or both?

This doesn't sound at all like a genital herpes issue. time to seek out 2nd opinions from specialists to find out what is going on. Start with an ENT specialist for the throat issues and go from there.

best of luck!!!

I've also been experiencing weird tingling sensations all over my body, including my face and scalp. I've never had that before.

The doctors keep telling me they don't think it's herpes, but I feel like so many of the symptoms I've experienced match up to what I've read online (minus not having sores and being sick for so long). It also sounds like a lot of genital herpes cases go undiagnosed. :(

Thanks for your response, Grace! I've been tested for yeast, UTI, chlamydia, HIV, gonorrhea, syphilis, bv, and trich- all negative. :(

I just took another blood test that came back with the same IGG reading for HSV-1 and negative for HSV-2. I had a PCR test done on a vaginal specimen (not from a sore) that came back negative.

I was given a one-day course of antibiotics and started to feel some relief the next day, but the symptoms soon came back.

I'm really worried about the on and off flu symptoms I continue to experience, including sore throat and weakness.

I appreciate your feedback!!

it's most helpful when you just  keep adding to your original post instead of making new ones.

You didn't mention any testing that you've had done during the 2 months that you've been ill. Have they been testing you regularly for yeast and bacterial infections vaginally when you are seen? Have they given you any medications?  have they done any other testing?

Daily throat swelling for 2 months would not be a herpes issue.
