Sound like Herpes?

I am a 26 year old male who had a drunken somewhat protected encounter with a 21 year old black woman everything else un known. The reason I say somewhat protected is because we took a breather and i desided to re-use a condom and may have possibly put it on inside out. A few days later I started to notice a slight-constant pain in my penus a week later it had not gone away with increased sensitivity at the opening slightly red, I went to the doc and he gave me amoxicillin for a uti, took that for one week no change. I went back the following week and got a std test done clap, gon, hiv and herp type specific. All negative, to early for HSV i know, they gave me Zpak and cipro, still no change. Went to the urologist he said enlarged prostate which I think is BS gave me cipro this was about 4 weeks into it, went back at week 5 or 6 and did an additional test for HSV-Negative I forgot to say type 2 neg type 1 pos on both prob a cold sore in my childhood is what my doc said. Now the pain has subsided but I have kinda of a dull pain in my pubic area right beside my shaft not sure if it's my Lymph Node or not never the less no swelling that i can find and this is happening after the fact. There was never any lesions just a little redness and sensitivity my urethra was also painful when urinating From the swab??? not sure. I have never had any issues like this before and I don't think it just happened to happen days after this encounter I had. I also have not had much of an appetite but stress really messes me up. Very scared here!  Would HSV cause these symptoms without lesions? If it was in my urethra wouldn't it be VERY painful? Any info is greatly appreciated

at this point you should probably just follow up with an urologist. this doesn't sound like herpes going on and it sounds like they've just thrown a few antibiotics at you in hopes that something works.

So to recap- Burning inside of member, irritation at urethra opening, loss of appatite, onset days after only sexual experience in months that was not resolved via antibiotics does not sound like HSV. Should HSV if irritation/burning/pain is present also present itself with lesions? There is so much info out here that contridicts its self, I know that everyone persents diffrent symptoms and that it is inposible to pin anything down. My uroligist says that if this were HSV that it would be very atypical it just seems that this was definatly aquired from my last exposure and I cant find any symptoms for anything else that fits the picture. Would you please tell me what symptoms I should expect if this were HSV. I know some people can be asystomatic but according to some DR H's post that if symptoms do apear i.e. burning/ pain that leasions are almost always present. Grace can you please please also tell me at what point lymph nodes should if they do become sore/irritated and let me know if it sounds right that they would start to cause problems after all urethral irritation and pain has subsided? Even if you did reuse the condom inside out, I'm very doubtful you would have gotten infected that way, the virus does not survive that long outside the body.

The lesions/sores is what makes Herpes painful on the penis, but since you don't have any and your blood test was negative at 6 weeks, you should probably consider other ailments as the cause of your agony.

I already gave you the best advice I can - continue to follow up on this with your provider. it's very unlikely to be herpes going on for this long.

I had the same thoughts as far as the virus not being able to live outside the body for any amount of time such as that, until I saw the news one night and saw the story about that little boy in CA that got ahold of that condom in a hotel room and put it in his mouth thinking it was a baloon and contracted HSV-2 in his mouth they said that condom was 24 to 48 hrs old??? It all sounsd kinda cheezzy to me I honestly am not sure that is how he contracted the virus everything else I read tells me the virus can only survive meer seconds outside the body. I honestly cant find anything else that it could be though Im trying so hard to find proof that I do not have HSV but I find just as much info for it as I do against it, so needless to say im torn and its driving me up the wall, I can t eat sleep work and I still have 5 weeks until the 12 week mark to take an additional test...... Man this sucks! The darkest hours of my life.

others have asked about that story and odds are it's not herpes he contracted. herpes doesn't cause symptoms as soon as he had them.

Grace I read in one of your other post that you have experienced a urethral outbreak before? Could you please explain what your experience with that was like? I am really torn up about this it is causing me to be in a very bad state of mind I'm not sure I can take it much longer and like I said I still have 5 weeks to go till my 12 week mark. I noticed the onset of my symptoms about 3 or so days after my last sexual contact. It started with a pain in my penus that seemed to progressively get worse but as far as pain goes it never got to where it was what I would say was very painful but I have a rather high tolerance for pain. There was no discharge the opening of my urethra was sensitive and my entire urethra was irritated as well but most of the pain was in the head of my member. That lasted roughly 4 to 5 weeks, does that seem longer than usual? Some days it was better some days it was worse but it never fully went away kind of just a constant. Like I said there was never any lesions, blisters, irregularities in the skin much at all sometimes when irritated my skin got a little red but I think that is normal I can tell much difference in the color now than I did then. When urinating it was more sensitive but never what I would call painful but something was not right and like I said it lasted for weeks. So here are my questions and before I forget, I would like to thank you for providing people like me with your precious time we all know that you have other things that you would rather be doing so Thank you so much!!!

How long should pain last when associated with herpes of the urethra?
On a scale of 1 to 10 how bad is the pain?
Should lesions in most cases be present with these symptoms?
If sore Lymph Nodes in the groin are present what time would that happen
and how long would they stay sore?
Should some discharge be present?
How long from what you have gathered can herpes live outside the body?

all the men I know who have had urethral herpes describe it as the proverbial pissing on the 3rd rail.

my ob's were annoying as heck and were worse than a typical uti.

Will someone PLEASE tell me when what when where why Groin Lymph Nodes become swollen. I have a dull pain on one side but no swelling that I can tell. Its been going on for about 3 weeks and this has all happend after the inital urethral pain has completley gone away. Does this sound normal PLEASE let me know your experiences or of some that you have heard of also if you know how to locate the lymph Nodes that would be helpful as well...

really nothing else we can do online at this point to help you.  many things cause lymph nodes to become swollen - any infection can, not just genital herpes.  All you can do at this point is to continue to follow up as you have symptoms or when it's time for more blood testing.

That's the problem the symptoms have all gone now except what I would call minor pelvic pain which from what I gather should start with or before the symptoms no after, I did some research and discovered that the inguinal lymph nodes are located in the inguinal canal which is located in the leg more so than in the area that I am having pain in. But something wasn't right; I don't feel that urinary/penus pain just happened to start 3 days after the encounter with that girl. I have never ever had an issue like this before, the only reason it worries me is because I have eliminated everything else, but if this were herpes then from what I have read and what my quack doctor has told me is that this would be very atypical... Who knows I think everyone is just guessing at this point :-(  Maybe or maybe not, for example- atypical symptoms are very typical among people and people can be asymptomatic but may have little or no signs of an outbreak, initial symptoms are usually the worst but some people have very mild initial symptoms, herpes can only live seconds outside the body UNLESS conditions are right then it can live for hours or days, most urethral outbreaks are accompied by overt external skin lesions but many people don’t have lesions or blisters. I could go on for days. EVERYTHING that I have heard related to herpes contradicts its self!!!! But I am very grateful for the knowledge and experiences that you guys on the front line provide for Idiots like me. I'll be in touch once something pans out or doesn’t.

the vast majority of posters here who are convinced they have "atypical herpes" go on to test negative for it.     so many other things out there besides herpes!

Grace a few things that I forgot to mention in my first post is that when I went to the walk in clinic the first time and was blindly prescribed amoxicillin for a uit. They did a urine test on me and told me that I had white blood cells and that I was spilling protein in my urine. They never commented on either one of those variables. No bacteria or anything else was found and like I said I tested negative for a clap and gon swab the week. Have you ever heard of HSV causing an elevated WBC before? The protein I'm not sure of as well but I do take protein supplements that could be the cause I suppose. Also could you tell me from what you have gathered what percentages of people would show positive at the six week mark? I have heard 60 to 70%...
