Spot, ingrown or worse?

I have a spot above my top lip and I'm scared it might be a coldsore. I'm an 18 year old female.

I haven't kissed anyone since February and I only get spots above my lip when I remove hair from that area (I did shave my top lip with an eyebrow razor just over a week ago). There was no tingling or itching before it appeared, it just appeared on Tuesday and it is now Friday. It only started to hurt when I fiddled with it. I did scratch it and it scabbed over (a normal scab, not yellow. No yellow crust or fluid either) which I did end up peeling off. Last year, I had an acne break out in my chin area which took about 3 months to clear up, it that's helpful. I am also prone to ingrowns.

Do you think it's just a scratched ingrown hair or something worse? I hope it's nothing to serious, as I am a worrier.
Thanks

PS. I applied Retin-A over the spot/scab (?) which explains the dryness and I had just woken up

Dear Life360,

Thankyou so much for the fast reply. You have really calmed my nerves as I have been a wreck since it appeared on Tuesday. As it is exam season and I am really busy, if this ever occurs again I will get tested for it but not for now.

Thanks again

Hi, does this appear as a herpes outbreak? No it does not but would be as you suspect from shaving. Since many people have hsv1 oral, you many consider a blood test  just to confirm if you have it or not.
