Swollen nerve endings on penis

I was wondering if swollen nerve endings (red/inflamed) were a sign of herpes? There are no blister like protrusions, and they usually dissappear in a day or 2; but I get them after sex from time to time. Is this a normal thing for some nerve endings on the penis? Thanks

yes, i have HSV1 and get cold sores. I'm almost 100% sure that it doesnt manifest itself this way on my penis, though. The swollen nerve endings disappear after a day or two, and never open into blisters or lesions.
