Well, on one hand you are saying that the only that helps you is Valtrex and on the other, you're saying shouldn't Valtrex take care of it if is herpes. I've given you my opinion on all of this. If you believe it is herpes and Valtrex makes it better, then I am not in a position to try to convince you of anything else. If you have eye problems, you should see an eye doctor as soon as possible.
This is my final post on this thread.

Yeah Terri,
I'm having a lot of problems with it. The only thing that calms it is the Valtrex, but the bumps don't go away. Now I have some eye issues going on in my right eye and all I can do is think that I've contaminated my eye on accident with herpes. I'm not at home until Thursday and my eye is really becoming irritated. Shouldn't the Valtrex take care of all of this if it's Herpes?
Thanks
It does sound like a plan. Most people only have a few pearly papules, but they normally don't hurt at all, so I don't know what is going on there.

I did look up the pics. I guess it looks a little like that...but not really as pronounced and not nearly as many (like 3 or 4 with one that has been kind of raised for like 3 weeks). The main problem I'm having, is that it causes a lot of pain and discomfort especially after sex. It still has never blistered, but the neuropathic type burning is really distressing. I'm going to use the cream for another week and avoid any contact and keep it clean and dry etc. If that doesn't help I'm going to see a dermotologist and see what they think. Does that sound like a plan?
Thanks
Maybe a urologist? Did you look up the picture I suggested?
Terri
OK,
So I quit the Valtrex. I'm using the clomazatole (sp) cream, and I've been using it for a few weeks now. The symptoms just don't really seem to be getting any better. the bumps are on the red ring around the base of my glans...only on the right side. The pain is basically the right side of my glans and it is so painful it keeps me up at night. It's quite painful, especially after sex. It's very frustrating and really taking a toll on my sex life and my relationship with my girlfriend as she says she feels nothing.
Is three a specific type of doctor I should be seeing for this condition? My General just gave me cream, but it doesn't seem to be helping much. Thanks.
OK, I understand about the Valtrex. Stopping now if you can would be good in terms of testing.
Terri
Thanks for the response Terri,
As mentioned, I take it periodically to control HSV 1 cold sores. When I feel tingling in my lips, I take 1000mg in the morning and 1000mgs at night and may continie a day or two like that if I still feel symptoms. When this thing started on my Glans, I was so anxiety ridden, I was doing that for about14 days straight. I've stopped now, but am worried about my symptoms...I will retest at 16 weeks to be sure.
So why are you taking Valtrex now? Yes, it can effect your test results, stop taking it if you want accurate test results.
About the bumps: I would recommend that you search the internet for pictures of pearly papules and see if that looks similar to what you are describing. Yes, the pictures will show people with hundreds of them but it can also be the case that people just get a few.
The burning on one side of the shaft of the penis is more commonly caused by a fungal (yeast) infection and topical medication may be useful - it is available over the counter in something like Lotrimin.
Taking the Valtrex would not prolong an initial case of herpes, if you had that, which I seriously doubt that you have, it would shorten it. Based on your negative tests at the timing you describe and the lack of herpes symptoms and the fact that this is a single protected act of intercourse, I'm guessing you are not infected with herpes. If you want to test again, I would do it at 16 weeks from feb. 2, but my guess is that you will stay negative, but do stop the Valtrex. How much have you taken?
