After getting low numbers for HSV 2 IGG, I had western blot done.
Last exposure to anything Aug 2010.
Sept 2010 HSV-1 Igg was 0.12 and HSV-2 Igg 2.19, Western Blot Neg for antibody to HSV-1 and HSV-2 by western Blot. No evidence of past infection with HSV-1 or HSV-2.
Because this was only 2 months after possible exposure you suggested waiting at least 4 months.
So, Feb 2011(6 months), Western Blot came back,
RESULT ; Low level antibl=ody detected for Western Blot assay, Indeterminate for HSV.
INTERPRETATION; No antibody to herpes simplex virus Type 1 detected by western blot assay. Atypical reactivity was noted against proteins on the HSV-2 western blot. This reactivity may or may not be due to HSV-specific antibody. Full antibody profiles to HSV may take 12-16 weeks to develop especially if antiviral therapy was given. We suggest a covalescent specimen be sent. For best results, the 2 specimens should be tested together. Please indicate that the second specimen is a covalescent specimen so the two specimens can be tested together.
Note: I took a week of valtrex, (1000mg I think), back in Sept 2010.
Should I bother doing anything elso, or should I just accept that I am Neg for HSV-1 and positive for HSV-2?
Thank You
