I just got my results today. Herpes IgG positive, reading 1.10. It's mildly positive. I'm pretty worried. Appreciate help.
I have never had an outbreak and currently I feel perfectly fine. My wife has cold sore outbreak on her mouth from time to time but I understand that's due to Herpes 1 virus.
The nurse told me that there is nothing to be worried because I have never had an outbreak and probably I got this infection sometime ago. My questions are :
1. Am I contagious ? Will I pass on to my wife if there is no outbreak ?
2. Is it true that this probably is an infection sometime ago? But why didn't I have an outbreak?
3. Could it be my wife's oral cold sore that I got this HSV 2 positive result ?
4. Is it really like the nurse said not to worry and move on with my life?
If the test was only 2 months after the encounter with another partner then you need to wait and repeat it in 2 months.
A 1.10 result is technically positive but in the majority of cases it will be a false positive. Because you recently had another partner, you'll need to repeat the blood test before you can be sure of your status. If you are infected then yes you are contagious and should be taking precautions with all your partners.
did you talk to your wife about this? Has she been treated for chlamydia too?
grace
No, your wife's hsv1 infection will not turn into hsv2 in you. has she ever been tested to know her own hsv2 status?
Was your 1.1 igg a hsv2 igg?
grace
it was hsv2 igg test. hsv1 igg was negative.
i have had sexual encounters with someone else. most of the incidences happened more than a year ago and the most recent one was about 2 months ago. it's someone that i know as a friend.
the biggest concern i have is am i contagious? if i am, is it only during outbreak?
