Tested positive for hSV1

I have tested positive for hSV1 and I don't remember ever having a cold sore ever. I have 2 little sisters who get them bad but not me. So I'm wondering do I have it genitaly? I've never had any issues down there. I was with someone 2 1/2 years ago who had a lot of cold sores but I don't remember if he gave me oral sex or not. If I did contract it 2 1/2 years ago would I know by now?
I am really worried about this seeing how it's difficult to know where the Hsv1 infection location is.

Thank you for replying. Do you have any advice for me as far as trying to get over this? I'm sure you deal with anxiety ridden people.

Looks absolutely nothing like a herpes lesion.

You do not have genital herpes. You are only ever likely to be infected genitally with HSV2.

Time to move on, you have an oral HSV1 infection with no symptoms in living memory.

Please Fleetwood or life360 please if you can answer me I would appreciate it. I found a tender hard bump a little smaller than a pea on my outer vagina pubic area near my inner thigh, but still on the outer vagina part. The top was pink and there was no head of any kind. I popped it and clear liquid came out. It's only tender when I touch it.

I know you can't say anything about the photos but in case you want to get an idea of what I'm talking about.

Hi sorry to be a bother but I found a bump with a pink head on the outer vagina lip area where the pubic hair is. It's tender to touch and I found it when I was washing myself because it was a bit tender when washing the area. It is a little big. Maybe a little smaller than a pea. Does this sound like genital HSV 1?

I know you can't tell me anything really from a photo but I'm case you want to look at it to get an idea of what I'm talking about.

Thank you. That makes a lot of sense and yes I suffer from severe anxiety and I get body sensations often. I know the mind can be a powerful thing.

This is like wondering why you have a head ache stress out about it as if it is cancer, and hitting your head which causes more ache and asking why this cant be cancer related. You are probably ok and just anxious likeIi was I can relate. Body sensations can be very weird and dependant on your mental state

Tingling is when it is a recurrent outbreak's prodrome stage. The lesions dont tingle they are painful they can  tingle but tingling twice for a couple of seconds is anxiety related. And of course if you rubbed it it would tingle or even burn.

Would you mind explaining why? I thought that herpes is associated with timgling.

Not at all, this will not be a herpes lesion.

Ok thanks. I was rubbing the bump a lot after I found it and the next morning it tingled a little when I got pee on it and right after I got in the shower I put soap on it and it tingled again. After the shower It didn't tingle anymore. So basically it tingled twice.

The tingling I felt didn't hurt or anything but the best way to describe it is like bubbles popping on your skin you feel this slight touch. In the case of the tingling I felt a lot of bubbles popping.

Does this sound like herpes?

No this doesn't sound at all like a herpes lesion. They will mostly ulcerate and scab. The blisters will tend to be inside a red patch and not be the extent of the lesion.

The reason I al is because a lot of people on here state that their hsv1 outbreak consisted of bumps and not necessarily blisters.

Sorry about another question but I just thought about something. Does hsv1 and hsv2 present itself in the same way? I had a clear bump that I guess could have been a blister that was small and clear and didn't look like it had fluid. It never changed and went away after 3 weeks. Do herpes 1 blisters always open up and heal because mine did not change at all.

This will certainly be an oral infection and like about half the people with oral HSV1, you do not have a living memory of an outbreak.

You would most likely not have become infected with HSV1 genitally as a primary infection and not know it. It is an absolute party crasher that sends most people infected to a doctor.

The even better news is that you have the strongest possible immunity against a genital HSV1 infection. The chances of you being infected genitally by an oral HSV1 partner are negligible over an entire lifetime of oral sex!

You dont want to live like that,, watchig for an outbreak thats not gonna happen, as lingf as you see no genital sore consider it an asymptomatic oral infection.

Not usually, just depends on the persons immune system. Stress can set it off. No time limit.

So after 2 to 3 years the virus usually becomes active again with lesions or just shedding?

Is there a timeframe for me to wait and if no symptoms appear I can determine im in the clear from that incident? Like 4 years or 5 years?

Its ok to ask different questions. Its the reduntant questions that bother us. Many people that have oral hsv1 never have a coldsore.
Yes that is the nature of hsv 1 genital and proof of this is that tests have shown that shedding of genital hsv1 is very rare and only sheds about 3-5% of the time. Shedding meaning the virus is on the surface with no active sores present.

Sorry for all the questions but I also wanted to know is it common to have HVS1 in the mouth and to never ever get a coldsore?
Last question I promise, I read on two different occasions (1 statement by one of the docs that used to be on the forum) that genital hsv1 infections usually start with 1 to 2 outbreaks then it's dormant for 2 to 3 yrs and then it may become active again after. Have you heard of this?

Since recurrent outbreaks for genital hsv1 are way less common than genital hsv2, you would have had an outbreak within the first week from a new infection, Since you did not have that you can pretty much rest assured that its oral.

Thanks I guess I would just have to wait. I rarely have oral sex performed on me, but as I stated earlier this one person might have but I am not sure.

I have been very active in keeping an eye down there do you think I would have noticed something this passed 2 1/2 yrs? A lesion or pain?
