The possibility of getting herpes and passing to wife

Hi,
I was totally stupid when I received oral sex from unknown guy on Sat 11/28/09. All what I knew about him is that he is 30 years-old. I have never had any kind of Herpez before. Till today (12/2/09) there are no signs on my genitals that show that I got infected. Is there a possibility that I got infected with HSV I OR HSV II? And what's the percentage of the getting infected? I stopped having sex with my long-term fiancee from that time, so she doesn't get infected if I already got infected. After three months, if I found out that I'm infected with HSV II, is it possible to live with my girlfriend without passing the infection. Also, may she get pregnant without getting infected with Herpez and have healthy baby?
Thank you in advance!

If you were my patient, I would suggest that you get a baseline antibody test now.  Not a week from now, but now.  It is unlikely that if you contracted herpes at this encounter that you would have made antibody by now.  If you are positive for HSV 1 or 2, you will know that you didn't get it from this encounter but rather, had it already.  I think that will be important for your mental health.  What does your fiance think is going on here?  Have you told her of this experience?  Yes, you can live with her if you have gotten this and may not infect her, but there is not perfect solution to transmission.  However, having said all that, I think the risk of you getting HSV 2 is very close to zero, and HSV 1, also low risk given a single encounter.  Have you ever in your life had a cold sore?  If yes, then it is HIGHLY unlikely that you would also get HSV 1 genitally.

No, you don't need to go to the ER ASAP, definitely not, but don't wait a long time.  You can do IgG antibody testing online if you wish, or with your private provider.

yes, I still think getting HSV 2 through this encounter is close to zero.  And the odds of one encounter causing HSV 1 are also low, but not zero.

I have a question. If I have never had Herpez before, meaning that I haven't had cold sores before, do you think that getting HSV 2 is still very close to zero and HSV 1 is still a low risk given a single counter? Or are there other thoughts and possibilities that I would get infected with HSV I or HSV II from a single encounter?

Thank you so much!

Thank you for the quick response. Should I go to the ER ASAP?

Regarding the pregnancy, is it possible that herpez positive patient's wife gets pregnant without getting infected with Herpez and delivers a healthy baby?

Regarding the cold sores, I don't believe that I have had cold sores before. So, you think that getting HSV 2 is very close to zero and HSV 1 is a low risk given a single counter. Is that correct?

Thank you so much!
