Thought outbreak was over, had sex

Hi, I had a blister appear on June 4th. It was a very small blister, and the skin never broke. Yesterday, I thought it was gone, so I had sex with a condom. Today I noticed that it is actually still there. The blister is very low on my penis, and I'm sure it must have touched her, even with the use of the condom. She knows I have HSV, but I really don't want her to get it.

Is there any chance she won't be infected? Does the fact that the blister never popped help her chances? Does the fact that the outbreak had started 11 days prior to sex help her chances?

Thanks for your help.

acyclovir works just fine dear. It's far cheaper too. You can get suppressive therapy at walmart for  under $20/month with a prescription.

daily suppressive therapy is safe and is a way to protect your partner significantly as well as helps you to have less disruptions to your sex life because of recurrences.  the diarrhea side effect should get better within a few weeks of being on the suppressive therapy doses.

has your partner been tested to know her own status?

That's a relief. I thought for sure she was going to get it after coming in contact with a blister.

I haven't tried suppressive therapy. I fear pills in general, I feel like they must be doing some damage to my system on some level. I do take them during outbreaks, however. They are also very expensive!

Do you have any suggestions on where to get lower cost meds? The free clinic would only give me acyclovir, not valtrex. They also would only give me enough for one breakout. The acyclovir also gives me diarrhea. :)

Thanks, I appreciate you very much.

since this was a recurrence, not likely you are still actively shedding herpes for it to be an issue.

are you on daily suppressive therapy so that you have less recurrences and cut the risk of transmission to your partner by half?
