I had similar symptoms and constant burning on the penis glans after i received oral sex. As far as I know, or I think, irritation at the top of the penis is probably yeast infection. it took me almost two months to get rid of and now just after contact with soap, there is a mild burning. try antyfungal cream
Update- so my bacterial culture came back negative. Good news yet I still have no closure. Based on the negative swab, negative hiv, negative hep c and b, and several negative bacterial tests my primary care doc thinks I've contacted nothing. What I know is I have a rash for 6 weeks that is persistent, and I'm coming away from a two week period of testicular discomfort. Things down stairs are not normal. The pain is better the past two days, the rash is a bit more red today.
He recommended I complete my script for doxy and continue with the otc anti fungal. He said if problems persist I could consult a urologist. So I have a few questions. First is the cdc website claims that some people have such a mild reaction that they mistake it for jock itch. What I'm experiencing rash wise is like that imo, I have a redness in a few spots that burns a smidge. Just irritating really. So for these folks who have this mild reaction does it typically last week's then go away? Is this their reaction each time or is it just the calm before the blister storm?
Lastly I stopped taking the valtrex yesterday morning. Today the redness seems a little worse. Coincidence? Or is this just a byproduct of day three of anti fungal and out gets worse before it kills it off?
Testicular pain is generally not associated with genital herpes at all.
One reason why I feel this may be the case is that the nerves in the testes I don't believe are connected to the sacral ganglion at all. It is the sacral ganglion nerve that has branches into the genital area that lie just beneath the skin. The scrotum itself has very few nerve endings in the skin that is relatively very thick and debatable as to whether they are a feasible site of infection.
All up, herpes will not be a direct cause of testicular pain.
Thanks so much for the responses. I just want to make sure that if this is my cross to bare that I'm informed and responsible. I'll admit that I'm very concerned with the possibility of a lifetime of symptoms and exposing my partners. I enjoy sex and this past four weeks has had me thinking some very messed up thoughts about how happy I could be in the future. It's scary.
To be crystal clear bc the testicular discomfort came back this evening, this is not a common side effect of hsv 1 or 2? Thanks again for taking your time to help those of us in this situation.
I'm sorry you have to keep going at present uncertain as to what it is. I hope they are testing for a wide range of bacteria. Also try not to focus on the area, with time, the body expunged many bacteria and viruses that could be causing these symptoms.
So the doc prescribed doxy and said to try some Loramin AF otc for the red irritation. The irritation at the tip of my penis was next to unnoticeable today. A little tenderness in the testicles still. I left a urine sample and we both agreed that it was too early for the IgG blood test. I'm hoping like heck that something bacterial presents itself in the urine culture.
I guess I'll keep you folks in the know as things develop. This forum is a wealth of knowledge for people who are scared and confused.
Anyone have anything else to add? Headed to the doc soon and want to make sure my bases are covered. Sounds like it's much too early for a blood test? I took the dose of valcyclvir today, is it safe to assume I should stop taking an antiviral and focus on the bacterial nature of this? Another positive news item is the testicular pain is pretty dull today. I haven't taken any ibuprofen for it and it isn't radiating too much today?
And I used to get cold sores as a kid, we called then cancre sores. Haven't had one in many years.
I should also add that I did try cranberry juice for the first time yesterday as I how'd and prayed for a UTI over hsv.
I'm very encouraged to know that herpes does not typically cause the testicular pain I'm experiencing. This has me worried the most. If it is bacterial I wonder how long I'll need to wait to see relief. I'm going to talk to my doc about doxycycline tomorrow add most get relief from epidimitis with this my stress level is through the roof. Thanks for the response. If anyone had anything else to add please please do.
Herpes will not cause testicular pain. That sounds bacterial in nature although there are some viruses that also cause testicular inflammation. Herpes symptoms would primarily emerge 2-10 days after infection and although can cause some atypical symptoms, what you are describing will generally not be among them.
I am surprised that the treatments you have had are not helping as they seem to be treating the key ailments your symptoms are pointing to.
Do you get oral cold sores?
It may be worth your while obtaining an IgG antibody blood test, this will tell your status. Best if you can wait until week 12 to have this test.
