Tingle Stage of Cold Sores

I shared a glass with someone who later told me they were about to get a cold sore. They said they were at the tingling stage. I'm not 100% sure they drank out of my glass but if they did it was one sip

I guess my question is how contagious are cold sores at the tingle stage and what are my chances of getting them from sharing a glass?

This was 2 days ago but starting the next morning my lip tingled a little and has continued to on an off. Is this a symptom

as an adult, oral herpes is almost exclusively transmitted through romantic type kisses.

this was incredibly low risk for you and you wouldn't start with symptoms the very next day.

have you ever been tested to know your own herpes status to see if you already have hsv1 and just don't get obvious cold sores to know it?

No I have not. We did kiss the night before he started to feel the tingling. Would cold sores contagious the night before the tingling and is it possible I could have caught them then?

if you've never been tested, get a type specific herpes igg blood test now to see what your status is and go from there.

Would I test positive after only 3 or 4 days? Also how likely is it to catch cold sores the day before tingling?

getting tested now shows you your status prior to this partner. if you are already hsv1+ then you know you can stop worrying because you already have it :)

When would this occurrence show up in tests and how likely am I to catch them the night before the tingling starts? Is it very likely or low risk?

it might be weeks up until a few months until a newly acquired hsv1 infection is reflected in igg tests.  

typically someone is shedding the virus actively at least 24 hours prior to an actual cold sore.
