I had protected sex with two different partners about a month ago (although I'm sure there was some skin-to-skin contact even if it was protected). About ten days later I noticed a painless, small reddish bump on my outer labia. Then a couple of days later I began having an all over tingling sensation in my genitals with mild occasional itching (neither the tingling or the itching are localized in the same spot as the bump). The bump has not gone away but it hasn't gotten bigger or worse, or blistered or changed in any way either. The tingling also hasn't gone away but hasn't gotten worse (I've had it for two weeks now). I don't have any other signs or symptoms of herpes.
My question is, is it possible that this is a first outbreak of herpes? My understanding is that tingling only comes during the second outbreak, once the virus has had time to affect the nerves.
I had a skin infection on my inner thigh four months ago that was diagnosed as ecthyma, and now I'm wondering if that was a misdiagnosis and that was actually the first outbreak of herpes, and that this is now the second one.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Many thanks in advance for your advice.
