Tingling sensation

How long should a tingling sensation last before an actual herpes outbreak, particularly if it's an initial infection.  I recently had unprotected sex with someone, roughly 4 or 5 days later I started to feel a tingling sensation on the left side of my shaft.  That feeling has lasted 7 days.  Is that too long for it to be a symption or warning sign of herpes?  Please let me know.  Thank you.

So tingleing or burning should only last a couple of days before you would stat to see blisters or lesions?
