Tingling with no blisters or sores?

Hi,
Just want to say thanks to all the volunteers on here. It's nice to have a feeling that your not alone when you have something so serious on your mind.
My possible exposure occured just over 18 days ago. It was protected vaginal sex (3 times with the same partner). I have no idea on her sexual history.
I first noticed a tingling, iching sensation only in the pubis area/ NO tingling on my penis (almost like the feeling of the area being cold). I first felt these symptoms 11-12 days after exposure.  Since then I have been activily looking for sores/ blisters. I usually shave the area, so even before exposure its common to have some ingrown hairs every once and a while. Since I shaved 7 days ago there are a few ingrown hairs but they look the same as those I had before. Other than the two or three ingrown hairs I cannot find any sores. I have not had any other symptoms other than the tingling and iching.  I'm not as concerned with the iching as it usually is a by product of the hair growing back in after shaving.
The tingling only seems to be present when I'm thinking about it. I am the type of person to worry myself to death, so I'm hoping that this feeling is more mental than true symptoms.

I'm hoping you can answer a few questions on my symptoms.

Does this sound like genital herpes?

How long after initially noticing the tingling would sores appear?

Is it possible to have tingling with no redness, blisters or sores?

I would have went to a doctor but with no sores to show I feel I may as well wait till a couple months after exposure to have a test done.

Thanks in advance,

NBS

Thanks Grace,

Went to a walk in clinic and the  doctor there also thought of jock itch rather than herpes. He gave me some anti fungal cream to apply to the area.
I guess I'm still slightly concerned with the itching and slight redness in certain spots but he seemed confident herpes would no have this appearance.

Hope the cream works.

Thanks,

yes fungal infections cause redness and bumps.

you can have herpes symptoms anywhere in the entire boxer short area regardless of the areas uncovered during sex.

Thanks for the quick response Grace,

Hope you don't mind I just have another couple questions related to your post and other things i've thought of since posting.

Wouldn't jock itch produce some redness, bumps, etc? I now have very slight redness in the area described before (probably from always checking)

If someone were to be exposed to HSV is it more likely to appear on the shaft or tip of the penis rather than the base, pubis? Even if the exposure was protected sex?

Thanks again,

nbs

sounds more like jock itch than it does herpes.

lesions appear within a day or two of the tingling.

if you need the peace of mind you'll have to wait 3 months after the encounter for herpes igg blood testing.
