Transfer of Herpes female to male

by Lucee4200, Jun 18, 2008 04:08AM
I have recently been tested for suspected herpes and am currently awaiting the results. I have also recently started a new relationship and we had all the other tests, then I got what I thought might be thrush but it appears likely that it is an outbreak of herpes.
I believe I must have contracted it about 18 years ago, but it was not diagnosed at the time although I saw my GP. I have had very few outbreaks, possibly less than 5 in that time.
I made love to my new partner the day before the pain started and saw my current GP three days later. She is pretty sure that the test will come back positive.
I have had two long term relationships in the 18 years, and neither partner ever showed any signs of having the disease.
Could you give me an idea of how high the chances are that I have passed the virus on to my new partner? I feel devastated about the whole situation.

I think at this point both you and your current partner need type specific herpes igg blood tests done ( not sure if you have had a blood test done yourself or a lesion culture ).  Once you know who has what then you can better decide if transmission was even an issue in this situation.

Have you talked to your current partner about all this?
