Transmission of herpes to self and to child?

I am having an active HSV1 outbreak. I wash my hands obsessively, but I have a cut on my thumb right now. I didn't think about this till now, but is it possible for me to infect my thumb through the cut? And if so, despite my washing my hands, could I be infecting my son when I floss his teeth and my thumb touches his mouth?

HSV transmission to another part of your body is rare.  You have antibodies that fight the infection in a new site.  

Aslong as you arne't touching your cold sore and then the dental floss you have no concern.  But really if you have an active cut you should avoid your sons mouth just because of your cut.
