Transmission on Valtrex

Hi, quick question(s). Diagnosed HSV2 3 years ago. Immediately started Valtrex, suppressive daily. Had primary episode followed by an outbreak about 3 months later. Have not really had an Ob since. What is the liklihood of transmission for HSV2 while on suppressive therapy? I take Valtrex 500 mg daily. Have been in monogomous relationship for 2 years. He is negative. Dont use condoms. Have NOT had an outbreak in over 1 year.  What is the liklihood of asymptomatic transnmission while on supressive tx? Also, will suppressive tx help lessen the liklihood of transmission over the years?

Finally, will waxing/shaving the genital area (ala brazilian wax style) cause an outbreak?

From the valtrex and transmission study we know that daily suppressive therapy when taken by the female hsv2+ partner reduces transmission to the male partner by 50%.    So on average that means your partner has about a 2% risk each year of contracting hsv2 from you ( assuming that you avoid sex whenever you have an obvious ob ).  The risk isn't really lessened because you haven't had any obvious recurrences lately.

Only time will tell if waxing triggers an ob in you or not.
