Maybe this should be not on the herpes board. sorry.
My boyfriend and I have been dating for 3 years. I am positive for HSV1 (orally - at least i think - never had any outbreaks down below). My boyfriend has developed what the doctors called a fungal infection. They didn't do any tests - just looked (two doctors) and said "Yep. Fungal." It looks like herpes to me - and I'm really scared that I've ruined his life. It's red and bumpy - like what I think herpes would look like. He says there's no pain and they aren't blisters just bumps but I haven't looked lately.
He doesn't seem to be concerned - but I don't want to bring it up because I'm worried that he'll flip. Not to mention - if he's "positive" down there - I'd want to be a lot more careful about our sex
If he responds to the creams and tablets - does that show it's fungal and not herpes? Or could it be herpes and just going away on its own, like a co-indicidence? Should we both get swabbed?
2 providers have looked at this and neither have thought that it looked like herpes. that says a lot. Don't underestimate just how nasty an untreated fungal skin infection can get!!!
