Hi,
I'm a few days ago I noticed the skin on my lower back was strangely sensitive to the touch. The next day I noticed some pimples appeared, and later on 2 more patchesAllergy testing Skin color - patchy appeared. I had a prickly, sensitive feeling in my lower back, but no real pain. Reading on the internet led me to believe I might have shingles, so 3-4 days after I noticed the rash I went to the doctor, and was told to take Valtrex for a week, a pain killers.
Are antivirals normally prescribed for painless shingles in a young (24) and generally healthy person? I read they are really only helpful for people over 60, and only when taken 72hrs after onset.
My lower back had been bothering me for some months (just a "normalNormal saline flush" back ache, not the shingles), when sitting, lying or standing for a long time. Could this problem in my lower back have triggered the shingles in the same place?
