Trigger for genital HSV-1?

I am postive for oral HSV-1 (though have never had an obvious outbreak), and my boyfriend is positive for genital HSV-1 (most likely contracted from me). If I am active or shedding during oral sex, can this trigger an outbreak for him (genital HSV-1)?

Thanks!
Mel

You didn't like my simple nope answer? LOL

It's not an issue.  Your infection doesn't trigger his or vice versa.

Thanks Grace. I know there's still a chance for me to get genital HSV-1 from him, though my body has probably built up anitbodies that will make it less likely.

I'm more curious as to how likely it is (or isn't!) for an outbreak to be triggered in him if I'm having an outbreak (or shedding, since I've never had an active outbreak that I know of). Do we essentially cancel each other out since we have the same virus, or can being active trigger an outbreak in your partner?

I guess the same logic would apply for two people who are hsv-1 postive and one has a cold sore and the other doesn't. Will coming in contact with someone who's having an outbreak trigger and outbreak for someone who's already hsv-1 positive?

I hope that makes sense! Thanks for taking the time to respond. :)

nope.  Just avoid sex whenever he has obvious genital symptoms to err on the side of caution.
