Trying to figure out what this is ?

For about three year's now I've had these white like patches of swollen taste bud's on the side's of my tongue they are whitish as if it was dead taste bud's. It doesnt hurt at all but I would like to try and figure out what it is

Herpes does not typically show up on the tongue.  This could be anything.  See your provider for more information.  A dententist may be the best bet.

Believe it or not, i too get these type of patches, mainly when i brush my teeth wiht a ertain toothpaste brand. Colgate does this to me, dont know why put it does. Not sure if related to your problem but you never know.
