Dr. HHH or Dr. EWH has said in their forum that if you were going to get HSV genitally, that HSV-1 is the preferable strainStrains . This is because in most people, it causes fewer outbreaks and less asymptomatic viral shedding.

People with HSV-1 genital have an average of one outbreak a year, as compared to people with HSV-2 who may have as many as six. Also, the shedding rate of HSV-1 is one-third to one-sixth that of HSV-2. (Immune function, stress, other STDs, and the length of time you have had the virus all contribute to shedding rates. It really varies from person to person).
As for helping her along...Just love her! People who have been recently diagnosed need all the emotional supportSupport Support 500 they can get. Make sure she knows you still care about her. Let her know she isn't dirty or disgusting. That makes all the difference, believe me.
Oh, and grace is right. She should probably be on antiviral drugs (valacyclovir or famvir are best) for this first OB.
First of I am not sure I gave it to her through oral sex I just am thinking that it is the most logical.
Second yes she getting some treatment I am not sure what the pills are but she says they are helping.
She is doing much better now I have been setting down with her and just trying to lesson(which is hard because I feel guilty). She has shed a few tears but I think it is important to do that.
Out of curiosity, how do you know she contracted HSV-1 from you giving her oral sex?
Is she going thru her first outbreak? Is she treating it?
