Understanding Test Results

I decided to get tested for Herpes and my test results are everything but clear and I'm hoping somebody can better explain my results and tell me which tests i should take to receive a better test result.

Hsv 1 And 2 Igm Abs, Indirect

Test                                   Low                 Normal        High        Reference Range   Units
Hsv 2 Igm Antibodies                         <1:10                       <1:10
Hsv 1 Igm Antibodies                         <1:10                        <1:10

Herpes Simplex Virus I/Ii, Igg

Test                                 Low     Normal        High               Reference Range Units
Hsv I/Ii Igg                                        1.7                        0.0-0.8        index

My doctor wrote on my test results i was positive for antibodies but not clear on if its hsv 1 or 2.
I've read on this forum that the HSV l/li lgg test is meaning less for giving a clear answer if somebody has herpes or not. Could somebody give me incite on this? Also tell me which tests i should take to be given a more firm answer? I have zero symptoms and have never had a cold sore or any type of sore in all 8 years of being sexually active. The tests were done at Labcorp 8am and i was fasting (other tests were performed other then just the sti test.

You recommend the western blot and any other test?

I thought the above igg tests for both hsv1 and 2 or is that test strictly for antibodies? the two tests that you see are the only ones i have taken thus far, i'm planning to make an appointment with my doctor to try and get the western blot test, (not sure if labcorp offers it), I don't know if this matters or affects the test results but my cortisol was a little high and my acth, plasma was 96.6 which is nearly double what its supposed to be, which is indicating i have a tumor on my pituitary gland. If the western blot is unavailable should i proceed with a simple retest? If so how soon?

and for the hsv 2 what test should i do for that to rule it out or does the western blot take care of that as well? Also does labcorp offer it? Thank you for taking the time to offer advice.

If you have hsv1 and never had a breakout you most likely acquired it from childhood and may never have a breakout. If you want a test then do the Western Blot/

Get that same test redone or would you recommend another test? What alters the test results? I want to reduce the variables as much as possible.

Hi, we dont use the igm for confirmation but only the igg, From what youve listed it shows low positive for hsv1 which would require a second test of a different means to verify as could be a false positive.

The result margins have moved, 1.7 would be under high and the  <1:10 would be under normal.
