Can you get the numeric results of his blood test and post them here - ie hsv1 igg 4. 5 and hsv2 igg 4. 9 or whatever they are? I can't really help you best until I see those.
Just because this is the first time he's noticed symptoms doesn't mean it has to be a newly acquired infection for him. Once you've both been tested to know your status you can better figure that all out.

Thanks for the reply!
Here is the situation. About two weeks ago my husband started having pain in the testicles, right side of his abdomen, and a tingling sensation when he urinated. He went to the doctor and she preformed urine tests. They came back negative for stds and uti. She prescribed him doxycycline for epididmytisis(hope i spelled that right). The pain in his testicles and the tingling went away. The stomach pain continued. After completing the medication he noticed spots(not really bumps) on his penis. He went to see a different doctor. That morning his lips were dry and cracked. This one said that the stomach pain was acid reflux. And ordered a blood test for herpes. It came back positive for hsv2.
I don't no a lot but i have been reading up on herpes and we both have an appointment with the doctor on Monday. If the results are correct, this would have been his first outbreak. Should there have been soreness, itching, blisters, sores, or some other symptom? He says that he has been faithful(we have been together for 7 years and all previous tests have been negative). Therefore, we were wondering traces of doxycycline could have caused a false positive.
not that I"m aware of.
