Urgent question on herpes symptoms
Hello,
I would like to expose you my situation since I am very anxious and all those things I read on internet make me sick (note that i am a 25 man):
After a sexual relation with a girl, I noticed a couple of days later that I had a small red spot on the middle of my glans. This spot was appearing and disappearing with time. In the coming weeks I then noticed that it was two/ three red spots that appeared/disappeared... I therefore decided to consult my urologist and dermatologist that put me on anti-mycotic ( with local application and oral pills). However the symptoms did not go away. The symptoms evolved after 2 months in the following way: It was not anymore two/three red spots appearing/disappearing but well a kind of redness that spreads across the glans ( by redness I mean some difuse pink spot at the basis of my glans that appears/disappears; It can also be some white spots.) . So three months after initial symptoms, I went back to see all my doctors ( urologist(2 different), dermatologist (2 different)) that prescribed me a blood test for all STD’s). Results were that I was negative for all except that I had herpes simplex 1/2 igg at 13,4 (>1,1) and herpes simplex igm negative.
I insist that I never had any cold sores (neither on my mouth nor on my glans) ( I mean I have never had blisters or real buttons with liquid inside ).
4 months after the ‘probable’ exposure, I felt some minor localized pain in my glans, this pain appears and disappears as well but may be very uncomfortable. It seems to be very localized on one of my nerve inside the glans. I also felt like i had swollen glands in the armpit area. I therefore went back to see my dermatologist that gave me a local ointment ( murazyme (= Lyzozymii hydrochloridum) in combination with neurontin). It seems that neurontin make my local pain better. I also took another blood test and everything was ok ( except igg herpes simplex 1/2 still positive while igm negative).

I disagree with your statement that is doesn't matter if you have HSV 1 or 2 or its location. That is completely in error.
I don't know what you mean by the virus being blocked.
And we don't know if the pain is being caused by herpes because you don't know where the herpes is located.
If you wish to take an antiviral, that's up to you and your health care provider.
I sort of feel like you aren't listening to me or Dr. Handsfield.

I noted that you have posted also for Dr. Handsfield. I agree with his responses to you, completely. There is really no evidence that the pain you are having has anything to do with herpes, is there? You could have been infected with oral HSV 1 as a child and have simply not had symptoms. That is the most likely explanation, but I do think it is wise for you to get a type specific antibody test, just like Dr. Handsfield suggested. If you have HSV 2, either with or without HSV 1 infection, then it is likely genital. If you try, you can work that out. I know there are places that do type specific testing in Europe.

Here is my concern:
I have herpes 1 or 2 ( it doesn't change anything since we can find both in all places ) .
I have the virus which manifest in a assymptomatic way ( meaning I have symptoms but not yet the one of standard herpes)
It looks like the virus is blocked there , don't you think we should attack it with antiviral ?
I would like avoiding having trouble with my local nerves. 4 months has passed now so it is time for me to do something .
How many times may this pain last according to you?

The test that you had doesn't appear to distinguish between HSV 1 and HSV 2. That is important. However, given what you describe as your symptoms, this does NOT sound like genital herpes to me. The constant coming and going, which seems to be most of the time by your description, does not sound like that pattern of herpes, nor do the spot and redness sound like herpes. You need to get a test that distinguishes between HSV 1 and HSV 2 accurately. You don't need an IgM.
If you do happen to have genital herpes, you can definitely have children, yes
