Valtrex Vs Acyclovir

Although this question has probably been asked a lot, I cant seem to find a clear answer. for surpressive therapy, is 500mg of Valtrex taken once daily AS EFFECTIVE as taking acyclovir 400mg 2 times a day? is one better at reducing shedding and protecting your partner? Does Acyclovir keep working up until the 3rd year at continually reducing outbreaks, like Valtrex? All the studies I have read use Valtrex.
