Valtrex and HSV2 transmission

I was diagnosed w HSV2 from a swab of the sores about six months ago. I am a heterosexual female. I have been taking 500mg of Valtrex everyday since and have only had one outbreak (the original one). What are the chances I transmit HSV2 to my male partner through oral and vaginal sex? I am also curious to know what is the risk of transmission from vaginal sex with and without condoms. I am really nervous to tell my new partner that I have herpes but having some stats about his risk of infection would be helpful. Thank you.

Make sure your partner gets tested for herpes too to know their status. It's not a part of routine std testing and most folks don't realize that.

Have you read the free herpes handbook yet by Terri Warren? If not, google it and check it out. It has all the info you need to manage your herpes and talk to a partner about it.

Also keep in mind when having your "talk" with your new partner - this is so much more than disclosing the hsv2 you know you have, it's about protecting yourself from other infections so be sure your partner was tested at the proper times after their last partner and discuss HPV vaccination too!!!

So to clarify, since I am a female taking antivirals, the chance of me transmitting the virus to my male partner without condoms is 2%?

Hi, transmission rates for hsv2 is about 10%  for women and 4% for men and taking antivirals would reduce this to half.Women are much more likely to acquire hsv2 from men vrs a man acquiring it from women.
