Valtrex for 3 dyas

Ok, I've been on Valtrex since Friday and my symptoms have not subsided or even alleviated in the smallest amount :( I am not having common symptoms i.e. lesion breakout..It's more general discomfort, slight difficulty urinating, frequent urination and feeling like I'm not quite emptying,  irritation, needles & pins or icy hot sensations in my buttocks and back of calves, ..sometimes even in my feet and over all weakness. The side effects of the Valtrex seem to be diarrhea, nausea, dizziness, headaches and lack of appetite. The symptoms were prevalent before beginning the Valtrex. Does this mean I was too late in starting the Valtrex or does it not help with already noticeable symptoms? and is just for suppressing symptoms before they can be noticeable? Also these symptoms have been in full force for about 3 weeks. I'm assuming this is my first "outbreak" but am not absolutely sure, because I've read that the first one can come and go without noticing. Does anyone have some suggestions or have they experienced a similar situation? Also (sorry so many ???s) does caffeine add or worsen symptoms?

Definitely continue to follow up on this. It's much more likely to be something besides herpes going on though unfortunately sometimes it takes awhile to figure out what really is going on. I know it suck s to keep having to go and be seen so often too :(

Oh sorry about that :( I kind of figured that the Valtrex probably wouldn't help this far in.. It's just after I started getting the tingling in my buttocks and thighs that I wanted something that could maybe help alleviate the feeling. I have been checking religiously "down there" and have not found any sores, however 4 days ago, I did notice a small white pin point dot in the fold around my urethra. It does not hurt to touch it, but also doesn't seem to wipe away. I didn't notice this before and as of today it has not gone away. I'm getting really confused by the forums/posts involving the tingling/icy hot sensation I have been experiencing since last week Monday (is when it was most noticeable ) in my buttocks and thighs as well as the genital area, but not as severe as in my back half. Can you please explain this to me? Does this symptom only show up before visual signs? if so how long should it last? I'm going on 2weeks? 3weeks the tingly sensation was only in the genital area with pain and irritation..now it's mainly in my back side/legs along with aches and not as bothersome in genital area. Can you have these symptom for this length of time and not have visual symptoms?
I agree with you that it makes sense that the Valtrex would not work this far in, however my provider is starting to think that this all might be something else all together that is causing my symptoms. Is it normal for your first breakout to last as long as a month? it must be different for everyone, right?
I will be re-testing on the 17th of this month, that will put me 4months out from possible contraction, like you suggested. This all wouldn't so bad if I didn't have all these weird symptoms and was getting so many confusing explanations/stories of what others & Dr.s say about Hsv.
Thanks for your responses, you extremely helpful :)

It really is most helpful if you just add updates to your original post so I can quickly glance back thru things. It really does save me time - thanks!

1 - you don't even know if this is herpes related or not. if it's not herpes, valtrex won't help

2- if this is herpes, starting valtrex 3+ weeks into things isn't going to do much anyways unfortunately - it's almost run its course and should be done in another week or so even without treatment.  definitely no relief in 3 days of valtrex in this situation unfortunately.

3 - if you still feel badly you should return to your urologist or regular doctor this week for follow up.

I'm sure you are frustrated as hell at this point :(
