Valtrex relief in only a day

Hi, I have a question regarding the medication valtrex.
I recently discovered some lesions and open sores on my vulva. They were painful and when I went to see my doctor 2 days later he swabbed them and took blood/urine samples and put me on a 1 gram prescription of valtrex.

Just within a day and a half later, my symptoms were completely better. I'm suspicious because if I was having a primary outbreak, shouldn't my symptoms have been worse? And also, I thought that medication was supposed to take longer to work. I only had 3 valtrex pills before I noticed my sores were healed and gone.

Thank you in advance. I apologize if I posted this question under the wrong topic.

just a fyi - if you are expecting to see sores in the genital area heal like when you skin your knee or something, it doesn't occur that way. The scabbing and crusting we talk about isn't as obvious on the delicate mucosal surfaces of the genital area like it does on other body parts.

about 1/2 of all presumed newly acquired genital herpes infections aren't. definitely follow up on this with type specific herpes igg blood testing and get your partner tested too.

Not yet, I'm still waiting for my results but I've been looking up a lot of information in the meantime.

You are correct, this isn't at all typical of a primary herpes outbreak. Did your swab results come back yet?

I forgot to mention in my last post that my sores did not crust over and scab like I've read they're supposed to.
