I recently posted a question a while back during the time I had an outbreak, and I had a culture being tested to check whether or not I had herpes. The test came back positive and I recently found out that I am positive for HSV II. I read and check these forums frequently, and I have read that an IgG test is needed to check if it definitely is herpes or not (am I even saying this right?), is that a blood test? I haven't had an outbreak since my last one in July, and I am taking Valtrex every other day (I have one doctor saying suppressive therapy is the best, and another saying it's just a way for them to get your money and I don't need to take it) The latter doctor gave me a note to take Lysine which I guess you can get at grocery stores and she said that helps a lot. I just read on this forum that lysine is actually not effective. I guess this entire situation has me so confused, and I don't even know how to go about treatment because of the different feedback's I've been getting from these doctors, and I'm absolutely terrified of spreading this virus to someone else.
I apologize if this is very confusing to read, it's just very confusing to me to understand and how to start going about if I need a 'proper' diagnosis (or is the results I saw with the HSV II positive enough?).
