Very Confused

Hi,
I was diagnosed via Culture Herpes Genital..
Then i did 6 weeks later the IGG and came Type 1.

Here is the thing, i have NEVER had an oral sex EVER..
ive never had any Outbreaks on the Mouth that ive remember..

Now HOW THE HECK do i have herpes type 1 on Genitals???

3 yrs ago a did all tests and came negative.
Last yr i did all std test also and came negative..

Dont have a girlfriend since 8yrs ago..

SO HOW on Earth i have this?
Never had oral sex performed on me..

First they did IGM and IGG and came IGM positive and IGG NEgative,
They did culture on the blisters and came Positive,
Then after 6 weeks i did IGG came positive Type 1..

So my question is HOWWWWW?????

Its impossible!!!

Ive read that its very contagious, but no one has ver touch my penis since 8 yrs ago..

And ive read that touching things on bathrooms was almost impossible..

BUT IM LIVING PROOF!!!!!!

Please let me know how could this be..

I'm pretty confused at this point in the discussion and I'm wondering if it would be easier to talk about this on the phone.

All I'm saying is that you should wait up to 4 months to test from any concerning encounter before determining that you are truly negative.

This will be my last post on this thread.

Hi Terri,
So you think now is possible that i have both types???
If they were negative at first IGG and then positive Hsv1, could be
That i have hsv2 also?

What are the possibilities that only the Hsv1 appeared positive
When they at first were negative; and not to show hsv2 on that results?

I thought you said that the antibodies test werent that sensitive for Hsv1?
Meaning that if i have both Hsv2 was the ome that will show up first.

From your experience whats the possibilities that Hsv1 showed first and not the hsv2. When ive only had genital outbreak..

Please let me know, thanks Terri

Six weeks is not long enough to wait for final testing.  I would suggest that you wait another 2 months and get retested to make certain it is not HSV 2.

Well i waited about 4-5 weeks after first symptom and it came positive for hsv1, neg hsv2, then a week later i did another IGG; cause i could not believe it and came back positive hsv1 also.

I dont know how i got this; but i have to work with this for my entire life.

To think theres going to be another outbreak its hurting me emotionally.
You have been a great help and an inspiring person to me.

I hope i could find peace with this.

Cause alone its going to be hard; cause i dont want to pass this to anyone.

Yes, that makes a difference.  Thanks for the clarification.  From that summary, it appears that you have newly acquired HSV 1.  If your swab test was positive and you had no antibody at first and now have only antibody to HSV 1, this is new genital infection, as best I can tell.  You don't say how many weeks is "many", what do you mean

Hi Terri I appreciate your time..
This is my last post!!
I got swabbed and it was positive but it did not tell if it was type 1 or 2.
The IGG test was negative at first.
Then many weeks later i did the IGG and it was Positive for Hsv1
Neg for hsv2.

Does this make any difference??

Thing is that they say it can be transmitted on contact, but its highly rare, this morning i saw an infectologist that works a lot with HSV and he said i could contract it touching someone and then touching the penis.
He said its hardly rare cause it tends to die on air, but being in a warm place could tend to live little bit longer. That's why people get infected on eyes and on body (that's what he said).

I think this statement is highly unlikely.  When someone says this could happen, yes, I suppose there isn't zero chance, but you could also run over George Bush in your driveway, but that also is highly unlikely. (or any other ex president)

I asked about the transmission and recurrence rate and He said, that his cousin had this type 1 on genitals and the recurrence was almost like the HSV type 2, having 4-6 first year (WOW), so i don't know if I'm going to continue having this recurrence; Ive read its much less.
Transmission he said its low cause of its location but its very contagious also, so (I'm in the same position). low but contagious.

The recurrence rate for HSV 1 genitally has been established as about .7 times per year, far less than HSV 2, regardless of what is happening to his cousin.  It is also not "very contagious"

He also said everyone is different and we could react different for this virus and that there was no study that antiviral could help me on HSv1 on genital

We do know that HSV 1 is also impacted in a very positive way by antiviral therapy.

I honestly don't have anything more to add here.  I know you are frustrated and confused and I can see why.  If you have another outbreak, I suggest that you get it swab tested right away and typed.

This will be my last post on this thread.

You have to wait longer than a couple of weeks for an accurate antibody test.  I recommend that people wait up to four months before they test.

I disagree with your ID doc on several points, but I think it is better for you if you chose one provider to answer your questions rather than jumping from place to place for information.

I'm out of the country now, but will return next week.

Forgot to answer one of your sentence, ex was tested 2 times in those 8 yrs. False positive in both is hard right?

I hope you could give me more knowledge and insight about my last message.
I really thank you for helping me pass through this; your books and messages are helping me get through this.
Without you ill be lost and alone. I really look up to you!
Thank You, Thank You

Thanks a lot for responding Terri,

Well The Culture told Positive, then the doctor told me to wait a couple of weeks to see if the IGG antibodies are detected, and that exact thing happened. I did that IGG after a couple of weeks and got an HSV - Type 1 Positive, one week later i did another one to confirm and came back positive Type 1 also.

I have 35 years of age, sad to say i only have had one 1 girlfriend and that was my only intercourse. No oral, she never liked that.

I am sure there's was NO childhood sexual abuse!
If Im happy of something was for the love and support of my family.

He also said everyone is different and we could react different for this virus and that there was no study that antiviral could help me on HSv1 on genital

I would like to hear your suggestions and advice the only person i trust is you on this. You have been a inspiring person and someone who i look up too; your books and messages are helping me pass through this.

Thanks for the response

So you definitely had a sore on your penis that was swab tested positive for HSV 1, is that correct?  And you've never received oral sex and you've had intercourse with only one person?

One possibility is that your partner's IgG test missed her HSV 1 infection - it does miss one out of 10 infections.  Other than that, I'm not sure what is going on.  Any concerns about childhood sexual abuse?

I'm not at all clear about what happened here, I'm as stumped as you are.  I can tell you that the antibody test is not as sensitive for HSV 1 as it is for HSV 2, and could have missed it previously.

Tell me what you are scared about.

Yes,
Both times i screened for STD 3yrs ago and last yr.. they checked for Herpes 1 & 2... And other STD.. i have the tests!!

And Now, As i told you first i came negative on IGG and positive IGM, and Positive on culture swab on blister at the genital..
Then doctor told me to wait, 6 weeks and then test IGG, i did that an came Positive IGG..

So checked and it was definitley for herpes..

So how coukd this be possible??

If i have tested and came negative and now positive???

How could this be??

But i had tests two 2 times in between those 8 yrs and came negative..

Why now, getting positive results????

I mean, i dont know if this type recurs, cause i havent experience this at all.. So i dont know if this will reocurre again soon..
Doctor told me to be on valtrex for 6 months..

How could this be, testing negative and then out of no where i got an outbreak and test positive???

I doubt that they screened for herpes, but you could check.

If you have ever had sex in your life, which it seems that you have, then you could acquired HSV 1 genitally through this activity.  HSV 1 genitally rarely recurs, so it would make sense that you had no symptoms for years.  And this makes way more sense than you acquiring this in a non sexual way.  So in my opinion, you are not living proof of asexual acquisition at all.
