everytime. The doctor told me yesterday that I have a slight abrasion at the opening of my vagina (closest to the anus). I've had a look in the mirror myself and it looks like the skin is just a bit raw - almost chafed. I also got a urinary tract infection (from lots of sex
- I've had it before) on sunday morning. I saw a doctor then (different one) and I was put on a very strong broad spectrum antibiotic. After taking the first tablet, I immediately felt a lot better - no pain during urination.
The doctor yesterday asked if I've been having lots of vigorous sex
and I said yes. She said that although the abrasion is probably due to that, she is obligated to take a swab for herpes. Now I am freaking out.
I've examined the abrasion and it does not look like blisters or sores at all. I know because I get oral herpes and I am very familiar with the appearnce of cold sores. Also, it does not hurt at all to touch the abrasion - the doctor mentioned that usually it hurts to touch the sores if it's genital herpes.
however, since I started on the antibiotics, I've had a general burning sensation in my vagina. The antibiotics are very strong and I have a feeling it could be a yeast infection - I get this everytime I go on antibiotics. However, there is no discharge or itching, just burning.
I am now freaking out that I actually have herpes. I find out my results in a week and it's killing me. The only symptoms I have is the abrasion (which is not in blister form) and burning sensation (which I think is due to the antibiotics). I would appreciate some thoughts if possible...Thanks.
Well, logically you know you had vigorous sex, and that the doctor said it was "probably due to that". Chafing/abrasion is different from a herpes lesion. I'd most certainly relax about this and of course wait to be in the clear from your swab/culture.
Have you and your partner been tested to know each others herpes status? While you know you have HSV1, it makes sense to cover all bases. Then going forward you'll know if precautions need to be taken, if any.
By the way, the burning sensation easily can be from the fact that you have the abrasion. It's mighty sensitive skin down yonder!
