or genitals to your genitals? Any bumping/grinding in the nude? It doesn't take sex necessarily to transmit the disease...It was most likely from skin-to-skin contact from someone with genital HSV-2...
No, no one has ever touch my genitals. I have never even been nude in front of anyone except myself. Now I have made skin contact shaking hands, hugs ect. but never direct contact in the groin area.
OK, a few more questions... What type of test was used to diagnose you? Was it a culture or a blood test? Cultures tend to be more accurate, from what I have read.
Some of the blood tests are more accurate than others, and it's possible you got a false positive for HSV-2 if the diagnosis was made from blood. I've read where a person who is positive with oral HSV-1 (most of the adult population) can give a false positive for HSV-2. Have you ever had cold sores?
Do you have lesions (open sores) or just little pink bumps in the groin area? If you have lesions, the odds are good that you have herpes. Another possibility is that you have the oral version of HSV-2, which isn't common, but you can get it from kissing. Given that you symptoms are in the genital area, this isn't likely.
If I were you, I would do some research on the various diagnostic tests, then go to your doctor armed with questions about which test was used, what is the accuracy rate, etc... Make sure your doctor knows that you area virgin, and keep asking questions until you figure out what is going on.
Hmmm I've been wondering as well. I recently got tested IgG and came back both positive for HSV. HSV-1 3.3 and HSV-2 3.4 Could the possible false negative have happened to me? I find it really strange considering I have no symptoms.
You can't have HSV2 and have had no sexual contact ...hence the reason it is called an STI ( Sexually transmitted infection ) you cannot get HSV2 from shaking someone's hand ..... end of !! You need to speak to the people who tested you and tell them your sexual history is NIL and ask for an explanation on why your returned a Positive test result ........... I have no clue why a Doctor would suggest STD / HIV testing for someone who has never had any sexual contact that just doesn't happen ..... something not quite adding up here !!
Why your provider would suggest std testing when you are a virgin is beyond me anyways. I'm guessing your provider doesn't believe you hence why ordering testing.
There is a false positive issue with the herpes blood tests. I can best help you if you call monday and ask them to read you the results of your blood test, write them down and then post them here. I need the exact results - ie hsv1 igg 4.5 and hsv2 igg 2.3 or whatever they are. Since you've never had sexual contact, it's obviously a false positive. The only exception would be if your mother had transmitted hsv2 to you during delivery which if that was the case, odds are that you would've been fairly ill and hospitalized soon after birth.
I asked myself and the doctor the same question. Why do I need a STD test if I am a virgin? But never got a good answer. I went to the doctor in the first place for the pink bumps on my groin area. I have had them before but this time they took longer to go away and I was a bit worried but never even thought it could be an STD. After my doctor seen the pink bumps on my groin area she just said "It could be a few things" she then asked when was my last HIV/STD test and I said "Never I am a virgin and never thought I needed to get one" so she said "I would like it if you got tested" It would really suck if my doctor don't believe me about my sex life or lack of for that matter. But that is a good idea about posting my results here. Hopefully I can on Monday
Thank you
