Does anyone know how long Herpes Type One can live on surfaces? Is it the same as Type Two?
It can be detected on surfaces for several hours. However it's not an issue for transmission. It takes more than just coming into actual contact with the virus to get infected. It takes some heat and friction too. You dont have to worry about for instance touching a cold sore then opening a door and then the next person touching the door knob and then touching their face being an issue.
For as common as herpes is - the virus really is a whimp. It really isn't going to be transmitted without direct skin on skin contact with the virus with some heat and friction to get it into the body.
