Wanting an answer...

Hi, I may have recently have had exposure to herpes but I am not sure... I got tested after 8 weeks of assumed exposure. My doc says that I have recently had exposure to herpes because my iGm is a little above positive but which kind is indistinguishable right now. The guy that may have exposed me, after sleeping with me had a single sore on his penis head that was concave and did not hurt or itch. He got tested around the same time as me and his results came up positive for herpes 1 (he knew he already had that) and a iGg2 came up .95 and his doc told him he was negative.  My results came up iGg1 .5 and iGg2 .12 and iGm 1.54.

Any opinion would help. I have not had any symptoms of herpes at all and it has now been 10 weeks.

the igm herpes test is a very flawed test and shouldn't have been drawn on you. A + igm result for herpes is meaningless for most folks.

encourage your provider to read the 2010 cdc herpes guidelines to update their education on testing for herpes.

you and your partner are both negative on herpes testing. at this point he'll need to be seen every time he has symptoms for further evaluation.
