Western Blot Testing

by danjay, Jun 22, 2008 02:18PM
I had a one night stand 3 months ago, and used a condom.  (Three monogamous partners before that; last had sex in December)

No lesions or symptoms but most recent test showed a very low IgG test HSV2  of 1.18 (HSV 1 was negative)

Prior to that : IgG HSV2 was 1.03 at 6 weeks and 1.13 at 2.5 months.

Would it be accurate to get a Western Blot test now?

You don't need Western Blot testing for the episode you described.

It's best to wait a full 4 months or even a little longer if you are going to double check your hsv2 status with the WB.  Only the herpeselect blood test is considered accurate by the 3 month mark. All other tests it's best to wait until closer to the 4 month mark for testing.
