What are symptoms of an initial infection of Herpes 1?
I need to know how to tell if these are symptoms or not of an initial outbreak from HSV 1 genitally, or even orally, as I came into contact on both areas with a girl who had a scab left over from a HSV outbreak on her lip. About a week and a half after last encounter (and 2 and a half weeks after first encounter pre –oral outbreak) I had a very sensitive and inflamed mouth for a day. I had my blood tested the next day to see if I ever had HSV 1 or 2 to even begin with- results were both negative. Following, and since then (its now on almost 3 weeks last encounter/4weeks from first encounter) I have had tender neck glands and groin area, slight pain in groin area, and overall achy/crappy feeling sans lesions/blisters/heavy rashes/etc. Does the fact that I had this encounter, and now all of a sudden have these symptoms indicate a more than likely possibility that I contracted Herpes? And since I have groin pain, does this mean it is probably genital? Basically, I need to understand what the correlation is of the former symptoms (aches/swollen glands/flu-like sympt) in regards to the "tell-tale" symptoms (blisters/lesions/etc)? Everywhere I read it mentions initial outbreaks would have lesions and blisters, and also states, flu like symptoms and swollen lymph nodes and body aches accompany, but it doesn’t say if just the flu like symptoms and aches by itself without lesions and blisters is possible! Can someone please help me understand this? I really need to know. Thank you in advance for your help!
Well then i am going to assume based upon your response that the answer to my question is that its not likely at all to have these potential symptoms for this long without an OB specially it would be my initial OB. I do appreciate your quick response, and you are right.. i am in desperate need for peace of mind. The doctor diagnosed me with epidid. and gave me 500mg levaquin and said I should feel better within 4 days, but I didn't really improve and now he is not sure. So I am just a little frustrated and all. I took an IgG blood test and and IgM blood test this past Wed (4 weeks plus a few days of last encounter) and while I realize it needs to be 3 months for conclusiveness I am hoping negatives across the board plus no tell tale symptoms will give me peace of mind to make it thru the next few months till ultimate conclusiveness. I am sorry I go on and on about this I am just really struggling with it but i do really appreciate the vountary help/advice. thanks a bunch
As grace stated, this doesn't sound like herpes. I would agree, based on my own experience with having genital HSV1. Your doctor diagnosed you with epididymitis. Clearly being seen by a doctor trumps posting on an online forum. Nothing you write sounds much like herpes at all.
Sounds like you just need peace of mind, and at this point the only option is to get the IgG blood test in a few months that grace suggested (aside from following-up with your doctor in regards to the pain from the epididymitis).

and also.. you had previously told me that if it is barely noticeable it is not likely to be STD related.. however, I have consistently read on this forum that most times Herpes is barely noticeable and that is why people don't even know they have it.. so this advice is sort of contradictory?
I have been seen, numerous times, but these doctors, although smart, are not experts in this field.. They are only going by visual looks, and other then small, few, and scattered little flesh colored/barely raised marks, there is nothing to see. As far as the veins issue, my doctor had mentioned epidydimitis, but I am still worried about the herpes possibility. I realize I have posted many times about this, but I feel like I never received an opinion on a generalized question I would like to know. And that is.. can herpes produce prolonged series of prodrome feelings, like burning sensation, or slight tingling in various areas for a week or two before an OB of blisters/sores.. or even more so, do sores/blisters HAVE to even come out? or is it possible that that just the tingling/burning are potentially enough to be herpes?? All of this would be an initial OB as well. I am going to stop asking questions about all of this after some opinion is shed on this question until (and hopefully not) a clear cut symptom arises. Thank you again for all of your help as it is extremely appreciated.
Does anyone know about epidydimitis.. or about any condition that would cause enlarged, or visibly noticeable blue veins in testicles and base of penis, and that causes pain?
I really hate to harp on this, but I do need to updated information. Can symptoms slowly progress on a "known" initial infection either genitally or orally. In other words, can blisters slowly form, or itching/burning slowly progress over a span of say a week or so.. and keep progressing to full out OB? or is that not likely/usual for Herpes infections?

So I saw my doctor, and he believes I have epididymitis as my pain is generally in groin area and testicles with a slight burn when I urinate, and has been persistent for a week now...However I do have a very small, barely noticeable white blot on the base of penis. it is not really itchy, nor painful unless it is rubbed on or pushed (hence it is sort of sensitive)... I have previously tested negative for herpes by IGG blood test.. so if that was herpes it would be my first outbreak and I guess this means (i hope!) it is not herpes. I can say the feeling is sort of like a sensitive ingrown hair follicle but I do not see a hair poking out, nor is it as pronounced as one of those (i have had them in the past).. Also.. does the fact that I am going on almost 4 weeks from last encounter with Herpes suspect, and with no OB, indicate that I most certainly did not contract, or does non-symptoms mean almost nothing? I realize there is a handbook on herpes, but I understand this is a forum in which people read posts and try to give objective and uninfluenced advice.. so any of that I do truly appreciate it. What are common typical symptoms of a known initial infection? How long do preceding symptoms last before the big first OB?. Does an OB have to occur? What is the likelihood of having symptoms without on an initial infection? I just want a general and informed opinion on these question please. I have seen doctors but they give textbook answers n they just go by if u see an OB or not. I'd rather get an answer from someone who has done extensive research and reading on HSV. Thanks.
I am just trying to gain a simple understanding about symptoms of an initial infection. Do pronounced visual symptoms need to occur, or is it possible that groin pain is a sign that immune system has been infected and the virus is attacking. What is the correlation between the aches and pain in regards to visual outbreaks. Do they go hand in hand or is it possible only one set of the symptoms occur on initial infection without the other (blisters/lesions/etc). I don't understand why this cannot be answered. As far as my paying too much attention to things, I mean listen, I had that encounter and all of a sudden now I have groin aches that I have never experienced before... sure I am going to attribute that to my encounter or at least seriously suspect relation between the two.. That is just logical.
