What do I do? First time

by BooBoo22, Jul 14, 2008 09:59PM
Hello.

To start off, I'm a (basically) 20-year-old virgin because I've been waiting for the right person. I've never done anything sexual up until recently...
I'm pretty sure I contracted oral herpes from my roommate last year, though I've never gotten it checked. She has it, and once or twice I've gotten a sore bump around my mouth, and it's upsetting.
But since I've only had that happen once or so, I forgot about it.

Then there's this boy that I've had lately, and we kiss and a few days ago I did my first ever sexual thing and went down on him. Today I'm noticing another bump on the side of my mouth and I nearly panicked. I'm concerned about him. Or worried out of my mind. (I'm concerned for myself too, but...I really don't want to give someone I care about a disease.) He's a virgin too.

I'm going to ask that he and I go get tested when he gets back from being away, but until then, what are the chances that I could have given him genital herpes? ): Or can you give someone genital herpes if you get cold sores.
Note: I'm pretty sure I didn't have it when we did it, but I notice it three days later and now I'm not so sure. u_u

Please help.
I'm so worried.

Just because you get a sore bump around your mouth does not mean it is herpes. I wouldn't be that upset just yet till you get tested and as far as your friend is concerned, if you didn't have lesions present and you had a few days head start, I am sure he is fine to. Your feeling guilty and for no reason yet so relax! Chances are he already has HSV1 also anyhow as half of the population does...

These bumps you are concerned about - are they inside your mouth or on the outside of your face?

Were you smooching your roommate last year that you feel you got herpes from them? You aren't going to contract it any other way than that as an adult.

It's on the very side of my lip, but on the outside. So when my mouth is closed you can't see it because of the crease. It's small, but I don't think it's a pimple and I've gotten one before and I don't know what else it could be. ): But if you only get them from kissing nowadays, maybe I've had them since I was a kid and never noticed. Or never had signs.

And thank you for putting my mind at ease, slacker. I'm going into Planned Parenthood today and seeing if they can answer more of my questions, I was just panicked yesterday because of this damned bump on my face. ._.

In that area they can be many things including angular chelitis which is most often from fungal infections ( think drooling while sleeping causing fungus to overgrow ) or from chemical irritation like the souped up toothpastes they sell nowadays.

Thank you for your answers.

I just called Planned Parenthood and they said that oral herpes would be a collection of water-filled blisters. But whenever I've gotten the bumps on my lip it's always been ONE entity. But is it possible to have a cold sore that's just one?
They also won't see me because I don't have insurance. u_u

I also looked up angular chelitis, and alas, it doesn't look quite like that, though that's the exact spot it's in. I'm just so worried u_u. And I know I'm worrying prematurely, but I'm worrying about him.

You don't need insurance to be seen at planned parenthood. They charge on an income basis when you don't have insurance. Perhaps you misunderstood them.

This is not a planned parenthood issue though since it's on your mouth area.
