HSV2 Glycoprotein G Ab, IgG.................................3.80 H...................IV.................SLN
Herpes I and II, IgM...........................0.38............................................Index............SLN
What does this all mean??? Test were taken all at the same time. Is this positive or negative? What is the H after the number, the limits? This was not explained to me...
the 41 result is your non-type specific test which was a waste of time. it is the default herpes testing for certain labs. the assumption is that if the non-type specific test is + , then it's assumed you have hsv1 and just a hsv2 igg is done.

These are actually the results of my boyfriend's test... He had a test about 8 months ago and it was supposedly a false positive because it was extremely low.... but he agreed to get re-tested (I think his first result was around 1.5). I don't know how it could have jumped up like that. I am very, very confused by this. Neither one of us have had any kind of genital outbreak. We both have type 1, though.
So if the old test he had was ~1.5, and this recent one is 3.8.... would that mean he contracted it shortly before the first test? Is there any chance it could be something else?
Yes I took a herpes test 2 weeks ago just as part of a standard yearly test from my OBGYN... the doctor said my result was negative... but I didn't see the paper. Now I'm worried it could have been low, with a number on the rise...
it's not necessarily that he was recently infected just by the increase in igg.
if you have doubts about your own testing, call your clinic and ask them to read to you your test results to make sure it was igg testing.
if your partner has never had any obvious signs of genital herpes, he can repeat his blood test with the herpes WB to confirm his status. Meanwhile have you two discussed what precautions you want to start taking?
We haven't really discussed it yet... we were just trying to figure out what is going on. I think we will go for the WB test, it seems to be the only option left.
Do you know if you need a doctor's prescription to get one, or can you just go to Quest Labs and order it yourself?
Okay. I found out that there is a Biokit testing center nearby, from what I have read on this forum that is also a very reliable test, and is way easier for us to obtain than the WB... so we will go there for our last attempt to clarify the test results.
