What does a high number of HSV 1 IgG mean?

Hello
I got test results back for HSV 1 and 2 IgG about a year ago. HSV 1 IgG, Type Spec came back at 34.20 High. HSV 2 IgG, Type Spec <0.91. I had never had a outbreak since this test and just recently a week ago I had what looked like small tiny pimples on my penis head. Prior to the test I had oral and vaginal sex with a women about two months before test. My main question is does the 34.20 in HSV 1 IgG result mean recent or possible old infection? Thank you to those who answer!

No reason to think what you saw on your penis was hsv1. Odds are your hsv1 is oral. Only 20-40% of people who have hsv1 orally get cold sores to know that they are infected but if you are under 50, about 60% of people you know have it.

Do your actual hsv1 igg results mean anything other than you have hsv1? No they do not. No way to know if you contracted it when you were 6 months old, 16 years old or last year from the blood tests.

The symptoms you describe on your penis sound like normal skin on the penis or perhaps even some irritation/dryness. No reason to think it was herpes based on your description of it.

Hi, most doctors say numbers mean nothing time wise but since it climbs starting at >1.2 i would comfortably say youve had it since childhood as is very common to contract at that young age.
