What if I haven't had symptoms

My ex, just told me he got diagnosed with Herpes. We had unprotected sex 5 weeks ago. He had symptoms (rash, burning on where he had shaved). I haven't had any symptoms and neither of know who gave it to whom. I haven't been checked since July and I was raped this summer. I should have went to get checked right away. I went for a cervical cancer test in Sept, thinking they would have noticed something wrong when I was tested for cervical cancer...stupid me!! I'm getting tested in two days. Could my ex have symptoms and I not have any?

yes that is true everybody is different you can go your whole life with herpes and never have an outbreak it lives in the blood strem and comes and goes when it wants to

Herpes is NOT a blood born pathogen. First off, how was he diagnosed and second, if he indeed is positive and has HSV and can't figure out where he got it, good chances are he got it from you! Not saying this is the case.

I don't know who gave it it to whom. But I don't even know if I have it yet. I haven't been checked since July and I don't know when he was checked last. I will find that out! If I do have it I guess I have a couple of people to talk to. I haven't really told anyone this...but I was raped this summer by a guy who I thought was a nice guy. It wasn't like he forced me down or anything...he just put his penis inside me when I clearly told him no. I could have gotten it from him and never knew. I should have gotten checked right away!! I feel so guilty.

doesn;t matter, a blood test wouldn't be acccurate and sometimes up to 90 days. Get checked now. Sorry to hear about the sexual incident.

Thanks for your thoughtfulness. I went to the doctor, and he said that a blood test wouldn't do anything either...it would tell me if I had the antibodies. He did a swab, but because I don't have any sores he said it won't do anything. I still don't have any sores and I just wish I could tell if I had it. Some of the people on here say that you would know if you had it. Then you say that isn't true. I believe you, because the doctor said the same thing to...I could not have any symptoms and still have it. Some people should be careful what they say on here. Everyone should see a doctor no matter what they read on here.

All I can do at this point is wait and hope to GOD I don't have it. My ex is going through his 2nd breakout. It's weird how he has symptoms and I don't. We are really good friends who made really bad decisions...so you can get herpes from a best friend...it's all about getting tested before you have sexual contact with someone...any kind!! GO TO THE DOCTOR TOGETHER AND GET RESULTS TOGETHER TOO!! ITS THE ONLY WAY TO STAY SAFE...OR DON'T HAVE SEXUAL CONTACT AT ALL!

I am learning a valuable lesson here!!

Sorry to hear about the sexual assault.  You might want to consider talking to someone about the incident, to help with the dread and anxiety about it...The fact that you didn't get tested afterwards (If i read your post correctly) seems to indicate that you were trying to forget/hide the incident.  Repressing it can possibly cause it to come out worse, emotionally and psychologically, later.

Hey...I'll tell you what...I was raped...as a result...I got herpes.  If I hadn't have had that primary outbreak...I'd have NEVER known.  I think you should go get tested...for everything.

It's better to know everything.  

And do you think maybe your boyfriend just had razor burn?
