What is it exactly?

(I initially posted in the dermatology community but thought this would be a better area to post it on)

I suppose this is a two part question.  Recently, perhaps two days ago I noticed that the side of my bottom lips were swollen.  There seemed to be two bubbles inside which contained blood, they were about the size of a pencil head.  They later subsided, the part that was swollen had scabbed over on my lip.

This of course led me to constantly research on the cause.  It could have been a bug bite but I can't deny the fact that it maybe have been a cold sore (aka oral herpes).  This lead me to a great amount of distress and I kept scratching my scrotum.  Today; I checked to see if anything was wrong down there.  I noticed some very tiny, maybe four patches of dry areas, which seem to have a light colored scab.  I'm so worried that it may be genital herpes.  I've never had an out break.

I've had partners before my current, but I've been with the same girl for almost a year now.  We've been practicing abstinence.

chances are really good that your std testing didn' tinclude herpes testing. You can call and ask if you were tested or not.  Same with your partner.

I an std test in August 2007 (along with my annual physical).  I came out clean.  I even went to a Urologist last Dec 2006.  He checked out my member and took a urine sample.  I don't know if any of them actually checked for herpes.  Should I go again?

The best thing to do is to go see your provider and get some testing done as well as an actual professional exam.

Have you and your gf ever had herpes blood tests before to know your statuses? Statistically - at least 1 of you has hsv1.
