in Costa Rica for 2 months. My boyfriend and I are in a monogamous relationship and he recently came to see me. My past couple months here, I haven't been doing normal "up keep" on my vaginal
area for many reasons. However the day he arrives, I decided to shave as I used to do normally. I didnt use a dull razor, or do anything any different than before. My boyfriend and I had vaginal
lips. It was a little sore, so I applied neosporin and thought nothing of it. Over the next few days, my boyfriend developed a cold sore, which is normal for him when he starts to get a cold. His doctor has told him many times that it is not contagious, and only genetic. We continued in our sexual activities, and now I'm having some severe problems. There are bumps all over my vagina that are intensely painful. The cut I mentioned earlier seems to be infected even after my use of antibacterial wipes and neosporin. These bumps are not inside my vagina, but covering every inch around it, some bigger than others. They have white heads and appear to have a harder core, but when I try to pop them, they only bleed. I have no idea what to do. The medical facilities here in Costa Rica arent exactly great, and I'm not even sure how to explain to a doctor what I have or need, or even how I got it. Please help!
Please do not try to pop these 'bump's of yours. That has the capacity to exacerbate the condition.
without seeing your 'bumps', I cannot make any kind of indication as to what it may be and I would say you need an examination.
I would actually advise that you call your national embassy in Costa Rica to obtain a number for a sexual health clinic, failing that, use your travel insurance (assuming you have it) to gain access to a health centre.
You should be seen by a doctor immediately. You most certainly will be able to find a OB/GYN in Costa Rica, or sexual health clinics.
If they suspect herpes, ask for the lesions to be swabbed and typed for herpes.
It shouldn't be a problem to explain what's going on to a doctor. Just say you got bumps/lesions down there and that they appeared after sexual contact. Simple.
