What kind of tests are availible

I am unsure which kind of test is appropriate without an outbreak, my only symptoms are a slight ache near the middle of my penis, almost unnoticeable at times, and I feel like i have a slight cold. The only partner im concerned may have given me something i got oral sex from once, she doesn't necessarily have herpes or suspect that she might, but im trying to test for everything.

I dont know what tests are out there that can be done without sores, but I want to know the following about each

how long does a person have to have been infected for the test to be reliable?
how reliable is the test?

additionally, does anyone know how likely a male is to get herpes from oral sex? And is a slight ache in the penis with no visible change consistent with herpes?

Nope, an ache in the penis is not herpes... Sounds like this ache has been with you a while which further proves it's not herpes. There is a possibility of getting herpes from oral sex but without the giver having overt lesions present or feeling like an outbreak is about to happen, the odds are nill of getting it!! Your symptoms are not of herpes anyhow...

well, Its the only one im worried about because the others can all be tested fairly quickly and I've been tested for them. Thats why I'm asking about these tests, to find one that can be done soonest with reasonably accurate results. Thank you for the reassurance though.
