What the heck is in my penis???

I have a rather embarassing situation. Several months ago i was masturbating when i noticed what seemed to be a sore just below the head of my penis where it meets the shaft, on the top side of it. I tend to masturbate very often so I figued it may have just been chaffing. Needless to say i didnt pay much attention to it. This sore as i call it has not gone away in over 6 months. Sometimes a new one emerges it starts out red like a callus and as i continue to masturbate over a period of a few days it turns into a small crater sore like thing. It is very small but tends to be very painful.

At first i thought it might be herpes but after reviewing pictures it just dosnt look the same. Herpes seem like several small red clusters of dots, this is just one or 2.

Is the masturbating causing the chaffing? or is there something for serious at play here?

Most likely yes, the masturbating is causing irritation.  Genital Herpes sores generally disappear in the span of a few weeks (1-3), and would certainly not stay for months on end.  It may be that your constant masturbation is continually reopening the wound and disallowing it to heal over.  Try holding off on masturbation for a few weeks and see if the sore gets any better.  Also, have your doctor inspect the sore as well.

anything that hangs around for 6 months needs proper medical evaluation. You need to go and be seen this week or next and get it checked out.
